Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.

Final Paper!

Woo! A sigh of relief...Don't you hate when you know you have a paper you have to write, and you settle on a topic, but you are completely unmotivated by it, and you struggle to force something great to happen with it?  Yeah! That's been me with this last paper. I've stared at the computer, letting K trash the house, because I couldn't get the motivation to start finish this paper. It's an analysis paper on a 'national' issue. I've spent the whole week  trying to get something on same-sex marriage, and at 9 'o clock tonight (Friday) I had a whole half a paragraph that I hated. By 9:30, I stumbled across the topic of prisoners not being able to be organ donors. An hour later, the paper was pretty much writing itself, and I found all the sources I needed to complete the requirements. Hooray to that!

Haha! Finished!

Nothing feels as good as finishing a goal you've worked on for a long time. I've started many, but I think this is the first one I've completed from start to finish.

Emilia wanted to read more, so here is another teaser:

I wasn’t sure what to wear, so he picked me out a pair of heather grey gaucho pants and a blue and white striped three-quarter length shirt that ties in the back. I slipped on my pink Fox Racing hat and stuffed my cellphone, driver’s license, credit card, and room key in my pants pocket. I tossed a five dollar bill on the night stand for the maid, and headed out.
We raced down the stairwell.  I spun out the door laughing hard, and slammed into someone, and then Jake slammed into me. The poor person took a heck of a hit. I’m surprised that the shock of our momentum didn’t knock them over. “Oh my gosh,” I apologized with a laugh before I had even taken into account what really happened. “I’m so sorry. Are you ok?” I asked turning to the person.
Oh great!
It’s Trevor. He’s wearing an LA Lakers hat and purple Lakers t-shirt. I quickly diverted my eyes from him, tilting my head away. I’d rather he not take the time to notice me under my hat. I couldn’t risk him or Jake noticing that my heart was beginning to race at the sight of him.
“Capri?” he smiled wide with beaming eyes, bending over slightly to make eye contact with me. His smile lessened, and his eyes turned serious. “Listen, can we talk?” he asked quietly, taking note of Jake behind me. Jake is a sexy, bigger built guy. He can be intimidating to even the most confident of men, so I was surprised that Trevor even risked talking to me in front of him.
I looked back at Jake and gave him a curious look. “Would you mind waiting at the car?” I finally asked him.
“Sure, babe,” and he leaned over and kissed my cheek. No one else may have known it, but he was looking out for me. He’d just given me an escape route in case I need to pull the old ‘Yeah, that’s my boyfriend’ routine, which I use a lot at work because of the influx of racers coming in and out of the facility looking for a goodtime. I get asked out a lot, but I don’t want to upset the clients by turning them down, so Jake plays my boyfriend, and we direct them to a bar ten miles outside of town where they can pick up girls from the city.
“Your boyfriend is really obedient.” Trevor scoffed as Jake left the lobby.
“Look, I’ll pay you back for the spa. That-”
“No,” he interrupted. “It was a gift to thank you for saving me from those crazy girls at the bookstore.”
“A bit extravagant is what it was, really.” I laughed nervously. “And just so you know I only went because the driver told me you were going to have him fired if I didn’t go. He’s got kids to support, you know?”
Trevor starred at me with his lips in a tight 'almost' smile. “Well, he couldn’t convince you to join me for dinner, could he?”
“You didn’t have him fired for that, did you?” I asked in disbelief.
He gave his head a slight shake, “I’m not a total monster.”
“Just mostly,” I added.
His smile dropped. “Yeah. Something like that, I guess.” He lifted his hat and ran his fingers nervously through his hair. “You could have told me you have a boyfriend…Save me some embarrassment. I’ve been hanging around this hotel looking for you.”
“You never asked if I was single, and I think we both know that only would have encouraged you more.”
He smiled in what I can only assume is agreement. “Touché,” he finally spoke, “I guess I’ll leave you and your perfect tattooed boyfriend alone then.”
I watched him disappear out the front lobby doors. He did a double take at Jake sitting in his red convertible Mercedes at the circle drive waiting for me. Trevor walked over and said something holding his hand up before climbing into a silver Navigator and driving off.
“What was that about?” I asked once I got into the beautiful car with car with Jake.
“He said I’m lucky to have you, and wanted to let me know that even when you’re showered with expensive gifts you’re faithful. Then he apologized for trying to sway you to go out with him.”
I rolled my eyes. “He’s not that good of a guy. Believe me.”
Jake put the car in drive and left the hotel. “He looks kind of familiar. Should I know him?”
             "No."
He stared at me for a beat, and then grunted to himself in amusement.

Hello Orlando!

Matthew turned SIX (6) - and we were lucky enough to get to spend his birthday with him at Universal Studios. Katelyn and I flew to Orlando on Monday. We met with Momma West who's flight arrived fifteen minutes after ours, and took a taxi to the hotel, and then in the early morning we headed to the park to meet with Thom, Heidi, Matthew, and Andrew. It was such a blast! I wish I would have taken more photos, but I was having too much fun!

Wednesday night after work Chris flew in to Orlando, and he was such a trooper! He got in late, and then woke up early to meet for a "Birthday Breakfast Surprise" for Matthew, and then spent the day at the Park.

Here are the few pictures I took:

...To Grandma's House

Here is Katelyn's Easter Basket! She was really surprised to see all her Springtime Goodies! Her biggest surprise were Tinker Bell Skates with knee pads and a Fish Helmet. She also got bubbles, a kite, sunglasses, a Color Wonder coloring pad, a pinwheel, and several puzzles.
