Hit by Two Cars

This is a sad story all around.

Two Saturday's ago there was a guy from Chicago that was in MC visiting his girl friend. It was 3am when he decided to walk from her apartment to the gas station. On his way, he got hit by a car on Highway 20. The driver of that car kept driving. A guy driving a truck stopped after it happened. He parked his truck at an angle so other drivers could see there was a problem.

The guy that got hit was alive, the ambulance was on its way when a white silverado swerved into the oncoming traffic lane to avoid the road block and quickly swerved back into the correct lanes, and he ran over the victim again! He also kept on driving! The guy died before the ambulance got there after the second hit.

The good Samaritan that tried to help with his truck is a customer of ours. He is all torn up, he looks just awful. Worse than that - he blames himself and keeps asking people What did I do wrong? What would you have done? He said he feels like he is going to black out every time he drives past that spot, he doesn't even drive that way anymore.

He decided to go to the funeral for the man and said the man's family couldn't be more grateful for his efforts. And the dad has been staying in touch with him. Which of course, only makes him feel worse that he couldn't save his son.

The first driver that hit him actually worked for the News Dispatch. She drove off and reported her car as hijacked. Guess she should have went home and changed clothes first because we heard she had little pieces of the windshield class stuck to her shirt.

The driver of the silverado has yet to be found.

Scott & Amanda Wedding Pictures

A couple weekends ago we went to my friends' wedding. Scott is a friend from school After I moved to Danville, he let me go as his date to dances in Georgetown. Amanda grew up down the street from me in Georgetown - we played like everyday outside together. So it was double the wedding excitement for me, :)

"I do, I do, I do, I do"

Now they ride off into the sunset on a four-wheeler.

Chris donated money to dance with Amanda, and I donated to dance with Scott. (Thanks Terry for the cash!.. I guess technically Terry donated, but hey)
"Shake your groove thang, shake your groove thang - yeah, yeah, yeah..."

With Heather - Amanda's big sister.

Amanda showing off her wedding boots - ha ha I loved it!

The last of the wedding pictures. Me with my other family growing up. My best friend in school Megan, Mom 2 - and Dad 2- Love you guys!

------------------------------
Then we went to hang out with mom and Austin.

At yummy, yummy custard cup where Uncle Chris bought Austin a baseball hat ice cream bowl and I got the Dusty Devil Amanda (West ha ha) has got me ADDICTED to!

Then we went to Winter park to let Austin, er- Chris and Austin play for about 20 minutes before heading back to mom's to watch some TV.

The next day before we left for MC, Mom, Dad, Austin and Kristina all joined us for Chinese food. Austin likes eating his rice three pieces at a time - :)

Eclipse & New Moon

So... I have now read three of the four books from the Twilight series. I had to read the entire book in three days because I kept dreaming about what was going to happen, and I'm one those who realizes they are dreaming, while they're dreaming. So it makes it difficult to really dream when you start controlling your dream- ugh! It's annoying - so let's hope I sleep a little better tonight. I'm not sure I'm going to read the last one, I know it's crazy - but I really wanted Bella to end up with the other guy (no spoilers happening here,) I'm perfectly content at leaving things how they are...Andy at work said his sister said the fourth is her least favorite, and Kelly said it's goes a little over the top, a little extreme, so we'll see. Maybe -

Anyway - we went to watch THE PROPOSAL and it's alright.... could have waited for the DVD. Anyway again - one of the previews was for NEW MOON, the second of the Twilight Saga. It looks really good (despite some really bad acting-er, I mean really clever....yeah, you get it) - check it out:

Are You Ready?

I can't wait, it's almost here.

Fly away Chris

Chris booked his airline ticket last night to Texas to help move his mom to her new work location. Turns out today, she won't be needing him and Brent as movers after all! So he's excited to just go down and spend time with her, and then drive her to Murfreesboro, and then he'll drive some furniture to Brent & Amanda. **Edit** She does not need them to move her because work is paying for it***

Dean's List

On the Dean's List again. Yea! It's a funny thing, the first 'congrats' that I received was a nice card with pretty green scroll writing, all of them since have been straight computer printed letters that say "Congratulations,"... this is what you got, a letter that doesn't even get a photocopied signature.

Summer Classes

Whelp, my summer classes are officially underway. I had my first test in Sociology on Monday - I feel fairly to very confident that I didn't fail. It's a lot of information, but luckily (at least right now,)it is all stuff that I've covered in various other classes such as Freud, Piaget and Erikson, and Lenski's Cultural Evolution. It's when we get pass the introductory stuff that I haven't already studied that I'll be freaking out about.

I'm also taking a transition class, which is basically a practice for the PRAXIS, the pre-profession skills test. This one is on-line and I've had a semi-rough start. Not because it is difficult, but because I wasn't smart enough to take the practice test over and over till I got a good score. I just assumed that we got full credit for spending the four hours taking the test, and I submitted my score as it honestly was. While other people even on the discussion board are saying how they took it like three times because they didn't want the instructor to think they are behind. And, they were right, because our grade out of 100 was based on our practice test scores. Which I gladly would have taken the test again (I kinda rushed through it the first time, and it still took me 4 hours,) and taken my time to get a better score. Ah, well. I emailed the instructor asking to retake it, she said not right now just see how the semester goes because there is still time to get extra credit. I'm not real worried, I just have to remember to do all the discussion board assignments before the deadline. I think there is like 2 one-page papers I have to write also, but one-page? That should be a cake walk. :) (FYI - it is a 1 credit class)

House Update

I don't really have any answer on the house front, we made the offer, got a counter offer, countered the counter offer received another counter offer. We let this one expire as our original offer was low, we agreed to pay for all the inspections and fix the paint for the loan. However, we really like the house - but if this is the price we stop at, we're not going to pay all those extra fees.

We had a little snag with our insurance. Because we got the roof fixed from the storm damage before we sold the house in Sharpsville, the insurance company said that our home owner's insurance would go up to $1,100 a year - from the $400 we were paying before. This would make our monthly payment just out of my comfort zone. So. Chris called another insurance company that will be $600 a year, but it will also save us $86 a month from what we are paying now. How great is that? While we've been with our insurance guy for the last 6 years, we hate to leave him, but if we can get the same coverage for less and he's (company) not willing to help us out, we gotta go where we are saving the money.

Once we get this figured out, we'll submit another offer.

Kudos to Chris!

Chris was busy at work this week. (like always) This week one of his tasks was to create some kind of report for something (haha) and he submitted it to his boss John. However, the stopping point for approval on this report was not with John it was with the President of the company. So it went on up to the President and he sent a message to Chris telling him it is a wonderful report and will be set in motion as the designated paperwork form for (whatever is was designed for). All Chris had to say, "CHA-CHING!" So he's really happy about that.

Proving Once Again -

There's More Than Corn In Indiana @ Indiana Beach -
Mom had Devon last weekend while Casi and Shane and Austin went out of town. They were going to Kings Island, so we decided to go to Indiana Beach. It was so much fun. There was Chris and I, Mom and Devon, and Kristina, Rachel and Ashley. I wore my new pink swimsuit, but it was just a little chilly for Chris and I to swim. Kristina and the girls loved it though. Mom and I walked around with Devon, watched him ride some rides and rode the train. Chris sat down by the beach and watched the girls swim. Chris enjoyed having Rachel there because she is finally at the age where roller Coasters Rock! So he had someone to ride with, and she had someone to ride with. I rode the new one once and my neck made me regret it the next two days. I tried to stay away, and I think I did really good by only riding one. I hate having back and neck problems! The most popular ride for everyone, BUMPER CARS! Even Devon loved it. I think the gang rode them about 50 million times....okay more like 20 times, but that's a lot. The day was kinda stormy looking so many people stayed away from the park. So you could just walk right up to the rides and jump on. The weather was actually perfect to be at the park, little chilly as mentioned for the water park, but perfect for everything else.

Party At Work

Yesterday at work we had a "Work Perks Blitz" or Customer Appreciation day. It was great. We took on the Luau theme, and decorated the entire branch. Here are some pics for you to see just how appreciative we are for our customers loyal business.

Things got a little torn up, but not too much damage.

New Swimsuits

Sometime last year Amanda sent me an email with a link for some really cool and cheap catalogue return items. I'd looked at it a few times, but kinda questioned the whole return thing. Then I ran across the link while going through my starred emails, and I thought - Amanda's coat she bought this past winter looked really good - So I'll try it. It's funny I actually received my Victoria's Secret Swimsuit catalogue in the mail that afternoon. It's sitting next to me, I'm looking through this website which has the pieces sold separately (as all are now) but for real cheap like $1.50 - $5.70 each. So I'm looking, and I see the swimsuit on the cover tops and bottoms on the site Less than $7.00 for the entire suit, the magazine has it for $29. So I found three more new suits - I think I own more suits than anyone else in the world now, but hey - I got the beach two minutes away, and I needed some bright colors for Jamaica. Shipping was high, but even after shipping I only paid $7.42 for each. Thanks Amanda - let me know when you find more good sites like this one!

Continued Twilight

I told Kelly the girl at work obsessed with Twilight that I had rented it on, but not yet watched it on Wednesday. She was gone Thursday, and yesterday she asked, "Did you watch it?" I said "Yes, and I'm mad at you." She asked, "why?" So I told her, "I'm mad at you because now I have to read the book and both copies are checked out at the library." She giggles and says I have no problems and she hands me her copy! hahaha! So I have started reading it. I am already on Chapter 3.

Counter offer countered

So the lawyer for the estate of the house we want countered our offer yesterday. It is too high, so we countered back with our top dollar amount. We'll see what happens now. There is still a large difference in even the counter offers, could not be accepted, but we sure hope it will be.

The offer is in - now we wait

Sooooo.... tonight was the night that we officially submitted an offer on a house. It's one that we really like, it's terrible because I can already see little kids running around playing in the basement getting in trouble - haha! The offer is set to expire at 6:01 Friday evening. Hopefully we'll hear something tomorrow. Because we did offer a lesser amount than they were asking - We're crossing our fingers -

Also - we have our meeting with Child Services to get things in order for foster care/adoption licensing.

I'll admit it - "It was good"

I went to the library to get some movies since every show we watch in the evenings is on hiatus - and I got a workout DVD, some movies we've seen Jumper, and Journey to the Center of the Earth and two that we haven't seen Waitress and Twilight. And I'm not going to lie, I had no intentions what so ever of ever, ever, ever wasting two hours watching Twilight - but a girl I work with is obsessed with the books and Edward, so I thought I'd watch it because her excitement had me somewhat interested. So tonight we popped it in the DVD player and ------wholly crap - we just watched it and I want to watch it again. It's really not dramatic, but there's something about the weirdness of it all that just "sucked" me right in (hahah- yeah for those of you haven't seen it - it has vampires - get it - "sucked"! I know I'm hysterical! and very sure I'm the only person to say that :) Anyway - it was much better than I thought it would be. I'm even a little bit interested in reading the books now - anyone read them - tell me what you think?

Chris School Update

Pyzam Glitter Text Maker

Glitter Graphics Maker & MySpace Layouts

It's a B+ for Chris! Way to go hubby~!~ This was his Communication - aka - Speech class. Unfortunately with the "restructuring" that happened at work last week (yes, another string of RIF's - (Reduction in Force went down) Chris now manages both the service and the training department. It's going to take him a lot of extra hours to get a grip on all he has to do now, he is taking a break from classes to focus on his job. :( Hopefully he'll get into the swing of things quickly and will be back in school in no time.

Apartment Party

Sunday we spent the ENTIRE day at one of the county parks. It is a really cute and nice park that either nobody knows about....or.... everyone is too lazy to make the drive out there to the good 'ole country. It's the same park Chris and I hit balls at on Saturday. Pete and his son Alex brought ribs, chicken, mac-n-cheese and Ladder ball. Mike and his kids brought juices, hot dogs, music and a football. Chris and I brought soda, water, utensils, plates, napkins, wet naps, chairs, bat, ball and glove, kites, Frisbee and bikes. So there was plenty to do, and more than plenty when you add in the play set and the trails that we never made it to! Click Here to see all the fun photos!

Here's Mikayla looking pretty enjoying the shade.

I caught Chris and Mike out playing Ball.

The boys put Ladder ball together all by themselves. It got played A LOT!

Alex helps Mikayla get her kite off the ground.
Grub Time!
