Supercross Again!

Chris and I just bought our super cross tickets for next March! We are in the 6Th row this time. An the price was only $5 more than my last expense check from Chuck! So it's like they were free! :)
+
Nothing really has been going on lately. Casi and Shane took the boys to Cedars Point this weekend. They invited us but I have to work.
+
Chris went to the beach with Mitch from Brehob and then they all went down the beach to meet up with Chris' new boss, John. Chris was excited to learn how to body surf and had a great day. He says the camp grounds were jammed, packed full. He'd also like to try to the water park at some point. The beach reminded him of the North Carolina trip last year. The waves were huge and the sand was soft.
+
I'm going back to kokomo for three days so Robin can take a vacation week with her grandchildren. I hope I don't freak out staying at the house by myself- although Kristina may come stay with me or my mom said she might if I need her to.
+
Well, I'm off to sleep- got another mid shift tomorrow. Next week really blows I work close, close, close mid, mid. Thursday my new District manager is coming for a visit and I have to leave at 5pm for a doctors appointment! That's gonna look real great! But my schedule was 7-5 when I made my appointment which is at 5:15.

Finally Some PIctures!

WHAZZZZUP? So My mom still has yet to send me the pictures from both vacation for diamond hunting and dancing with the stars. But I can't wait to go to the boat here in Michigan City and check out those slot machines.

+

So We're still house hunting. We've decided that getting a good house in a good neighborhood for what we want to pay is not possible. So we are looking more outside the area and toying with the thought of paying a few couple thousand more. Okay maybe just a couple more if needed. But I am not finding anything so this may be a very depressing fact that we have to consider.

+

Monday I was waiting in Michigan City to go house hunting with Chris and Jane so I decided to waste some time at the library and then I decided to go to the ZOO- BY MYSELF! Yes, all by myself. I went, I paid, I had a lovely time just strolling next to the grizzlies bears, being followed by a peacock and turning into a building to find myself literally just inches away from the face of a Siberian Tiger- luckily he was friendly, there was a small fence between us that he easily could have snapped in half if he wanted too, and no one was around to witness my heart jumping out of my chest as I quickly ran out whispering out loud to myself how close I just came to dieing. Those things are pretty intimidating when the there is no rope netting between you and him. Seriously though I've never seen one that close before and I have to say- IT WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL! Gorgeous animals.

+

I heard that the Zoo had gotten rid of all the big animals such as the Giraffe's and the elephants but a baby bobcat and a baby zebra were both born on July 7Th so they were neat to see. lots of farm animals and who knew Ostriches were so fricken huge!??!

+

Here are some pictures of my trip to the Zoo, sorry I had an old crappy camera I think it was one of the first digital cameras to be produced and sold to consumers for everyday use- it's bad...

So I called my mom and she'll be emailing the Dancing with the Stars pictures later on today. Which means I'll be posting them next week now.
**
**
My feet hurt! The building here in Mishawaka is a lot bigger than the one in kokomo and my feet are seriously feeling it. It doesn't make a difference which pair of shoes I wear to be honest. My sneaker manager shoes or my dress manager shoes. They hurt just the same after those 10 hour days. I have Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off this week, then I close, close, mid, mid, mid. I did however apply for my dream job for which I am no where near qualified and have nothing related to it on my resume. But I thought well maybe if I write a really good cover letter, they may at least glance at me. It is the coordinating producer position for the Ebert and Roeper movie review show. Like I said, no experience but might as well submit for it.
**
**
Anyway- the guests at this store are ten times worse than the ones in kokomo. Mihir the General Manager said the the past two weeks have actually been easy going complaint weeks, and I should just wait till first quarter. Honestly I don't want to be there during first quarter. Yesterday I had a lady who said she wanted the token coupon, three drinks and a large pizza coupon. I read it back to her, she said yes that's correct then after she paid --- made me do a void because she only wanted one drink and 2 free water cups. When I delivered the pizza her grand kids had soda in the water cups. I told her that those cups are for water only and she would need to pay for the two sodas. She started yelling right off the bat...Here's our conversation:

Lady: I shared my pop with them I do this all the time

Me: I'm sorry mam but you made me give you money back because you didn't want to pay for them to have a pop, but yet they have pop anyway.

Lady: Yeah because I poured out of my cup into theirs are you saying I can't do whatever I want with my soda?

Me: Mam, I'm saying that everyone else that comes in here, if their kids are going to be drinking the soda- they pay the 1.78 to get them a soda. It's when people do stuff like this that we have to keep raising our prices, then everyone suffers.

Lady: Yeah but I can do whatever I want with my drink, and if I want to share it I can, what part of this aren't you understanding

Me: mam you lied to me at the register about them having water, you stole from the company and most importantly your teaching your grandchildren that it is okay to lie and steal and manipulate the system to save a dollar.

Lady: Girl, this better not be because I'm black-

Me: Mam it has nothing to with your skin color but everything to do with your character. I'm not going to make you pay for those drinks today, but all the managers are here to see you and if you try it again you're going to have to pay for it.

Lady: Well I'll just bring a cup from home.

Me: I'm sorry but outside cups can not be brought in.

Lady: Well I just won't buy anything next time.

Me: If that's what you choose that's fine.

I can't deal with people like this non stop. Friday night I had a guy complain that the cashier was racist because she took someone else's order before his. He said "I was standing next to the other guy, she took his order then the family behind walked up and she took their order.

I said sir I can tell you from my experience as a cashier here that usually people stand in a line, so she probably thought you were with him and when she realized you weren't it was too late to say anything.

The guy: "No what other reason is there except for the fact that she's thinking, He's a black man, he can wait he ain't no body"

then he started talking about slavery and anyone who knows me knows I don't deal well with this issue and I said well sir racism comes in all colors and we all need to mature from slavery times if we are ever going to grow to be a compassionate community. And sir, her husband is black and she has three mixed children with him. So I don't think she is racist.

then the guys says, well maybe she's mad at him and has decided to go the other way. All I know is she needs a reality check, she needs to be put in check.

I can't deal with this. I'm averaging 2 racial comments and attitudes a week! I need a new job, maybe I'll take a week vacation or something to job search. Although, I've been told that Michigan City is worse than South Bend on the racial feud.

Anyway so there are my complaints this week. I'll make a happier post in a minute.

A Weekend of Firsts

I have no pictures to post still because my camera is still on the fritz!
**
**
So I told ya all I bought my first Amtrak ticket. It was $23.00 from Chicago to Champaign. Chris took me to Chicago because the commuter trail was all booked up. As soon as we walked into Union Station, Chris' eye lite up like a little boy at Christmas morning. He asked me before we even got to the counter to collect my reserved ticket, "Would you mind if I rode with you and I'll just come back on the next train?" So we both took the train.
**
**
Once we got in Chamapaign, mom picked us up and we went to the mall to see Rebecca's new store she had just opened earlier that week. A nice conversation and about 15 minutes later we were finding our way to my favorite Champaign mall food station, SARUKA- JAPAN. I love the Chicken Teriyaki there- won't find none better. But before we got to the food court mom and I stopped by Limited Too to buy some Christmas Goodies for the girls since they were having a huge clearance sale.
**
**
Then mom and I dropped off Chris back at the train station to take a nap and work on his lap top while he waited for his train back to Chicago. Mom and I headed off to Peoria.
**
**
In Peoria mom and I hit up the Casino Boat, Par-A-Dice. I had no clue what I was doing because I had never been before. But I can tell you, it was a bear trying to get me through security! The lady spent 2 full minutes looking at my license- comparing it to the book and then she held it under a light, then she put it under a microscope light thing and made me look at the camera for a full minute before deciding the ID is real, and yes it really is me in the photo!
**
**
Mom give me $20 to start with. I won $33.75! Then She gave me $50.00 and I invested $20 of my own that I had planned to spend anyway. So I played a whole $90.00 and lost $7.25- I walked out with 82.75. Bummer dude, but it was beter than going home broke. But it was great fun! Mom blew her chance of getting $2000.00! She was playing the Slot Machine for only a short while had like $2.75 left in credits and then she cashed out, got up and another lady sat down a few minutes later. TWO PULLS, TWO PULLS later Flaming 7, Flaming 7, Flaming 7 - and the bonus spinner thing- X2! It was insane- we went to the other side of the boat for some more slots.
**
**
After we were done on the Gambling boat we went to eat at EuroJacks. We shared a RoastBeef thing (so yummy!) and then we walked over to the civic center for Dancing with the Stars Live! I will have pictures as soon as my mom emails them to me! It was awesome. So much dancing and singing- it's a good thing we like Joey McIntyre because Drew Lachey had what we were told was a family emergency and the whole first half was pretty much the Joey Mac show featuring Dancing with the Stars. But Joey Lawerence was there and my personal favorite- Joey Fatone was there! They were awesome. They sang and danced. I'll hopefully get those photos posted sometime this week. I have a VERY BUSY schedule though so we'll see.
**
**
Mom drove me home Sunday and then Chris and I went house shopping....again, again. Still haven't found anything that blows us away. I love the house in Kokomo I hope we find one similar that maybe needs less work....??
**
**
I'm outta here for the morning! I got to get ready for work I am working MIDS all week but Thursday. They really suck because you have no morning and you have no eveneing. By the time I get off, restaurants are ready to close. Anyway- have a great day!

Waiting for work

Hey again. Lara Here. I just purchased my first Amtrak ticket! I am taking the train to Champaign, Il from Chicago to go see Dancing With Stars Live with mom. I am excited because I want to see Joey Fatone from Nsync! Dad was supposed to be going with her but he forgot to request the day off work- so I am the lucky one that gets to go- I almost didn't go though because I couldn't get a seat on the communter train from South Bend to Chicago. However, we all know how great Chris is and he said he would drop me off at Union Station then he would go in and work on training materials for work. I really wanted to spend the day with him, but he has got to, got to get stuff done for work that he don't have time for while actually at work.

At work at the South Bend store yesterday I think I got the initiation into the Mean Guest Club! it was 11:15ish in the Am we had only had like four orders and a day care wanting the 5.99 per kid party came in. They had 40 kids! Which is great! They called at 10 to say they would be coming so I counted 50 cups of 20 tokens each.
>
>
I rang the order in and the lady and her husband were fuming over the price. He said that's wrong let me see that, he leaned over to see the register, then wanted a calculator.
>
>
So while I have this guy still complaining to me in one ear. I have another lady going, "I only have a quick question." Which was about some Parks Department thing for the 5.99 per person package. I told her you have to have a minimum of 4 kids, yadda yadda. Then she starts ranting, "Well then Chuck E Cheese can pay for my cab ride back home and don't think I'm gonna be spending any money here again."
>
>
While she's saying this, :::chatterbox hand motion::: I got the other guy going blah, blah, blah in my other ear still. I mean he was just mumbling- not making sense and somehow wanted some kind of repsonse from me right that second. I told the other cashier to go get the coordinator to deal with the parks lady. She never shut up even after I told her that another manager was coming to help her because I was serving this guest.
>
>
Apparently, I used the wrong word there, "SERVING" because I put all the tokens I had counted out on a tray and set the 40 drink cups on it and set it in front of the guy, he pushed the tray off the counter towards me and said, "Excuse me- but I thought you were supposed to be servicing us"
>
>
Fine! I recounted all the tokens he just dumped on to the floor, being polite I walked them out the tables and said your food will be done in a few minutes. The guy goes, "What about our drinks?" I told him the beverage bar was self serve right behind the salad bar. He again says, "I thought you were servicing us?" I told him that the full service package is 10.99 per kid.
>
>
When four of the nine pizzas were ready I asked where they would like me to put them and that the others would be done in a couple minutes. The lady says they are waiting on 12 more people and wants them held. I told her we were running out of room under the warmer and it was getting too busy to hold them there. The guy then says, "Well that's fine, you can just give us a free pizza for the inconvienence." I smiled and said I'm not authorized to do that.
>
>
When the other people arrived, I went to deleiver the pizza's. The guy says "Excuse me, excuse me- can you change that trash can, It really stinks." A forced smile from me and I tell him "Yes, sir. I will gladly change that trash can that only has three plates and two napkins in it." So I did. And thankfully he didn't say anything else to me the rest of his visit.

>
GRRR! Lucky for me the rest of the day was smooth sailing. :::sighs:::

Sorry about the Lack of Updates!

Hey all! I'm sorry about the lack of updates but we are in transititon for our move. Living in the hotel, going on vacation and then to PA for the Family Reunion. I am at the Library posting this now.

Chris and I will be posting a bit about what these past weeks have been all about. I have a great vacation story to tell and he has some awesome work tales, along with all the Beirne Family fun to chat up.

I do want to let everyone know that I left work for two hour yesterday and Chris and I cried ourselves to sleep last night and then cried again this morning as our dog BoJack died. We had him on his chain for the weekend when we left for PA and planned on getting him Sunday night. But we were tired so we stayed in South Bend. Chris was to go get him Monday night, but work had plans for him to do a conference call to Asia that night at 730. I asked my mom to go get him Tuesday and when she and my dad got there he was dead. They said he broke his chain and got hit by a car. Geez- I'm starting to cry in the library- this is so hard! Our neighbor said he was on his chain Saturday so our laziness to go, Sunday we could of prevented this and it is eating us up.
